The Dø - Both Ways Open Jaws
The Dø is a French/Finnish indie pop band rooted in Paris in 2005. The band is Olivia Merilahti (singer and musician) and Dan Levy (multi-instrumentalist). The duo has been backed on stage by at least three different drummers (Jérémie Pontier 2007-2008, José Joyette 2008-2009, Pierre Belleville since 2009). Their virgin studio album A Mouthful topped the French charts in 2008, making them the first French act singing in English to reach that position. Both Ways Open Jaws was released in late October and ending in mid-November, the album was released worldwide.
Focused, determined and dreamy - especially dreamy, so if dreamy is your thing, you will love this. It's fresh and new, yet classic, and most assuredly fantastic musical art.
This French-Finnish duo – pronounced The "Dough", got together in 2005 while working on music for films and ballets. Their brand of indie-pop may be called eccentric and very different. Olivia Merilahti has an unique look and sound and has undergone quite the visual transformation in recent years of the front-woman from shy brunette to glam snatching redhead strongly hints of a strong push for fame. The 2008 debut album, A Mouthful, becoming the first number one album in France by a French act singing in English. They’re now mega at home and strong festival fodder worldwide. Vibrant eclecticism are found here in spades.
Truly impressive. Go and do The Dø!
