Roxette - Live Tour Sydney

Roxette fans all over Australia can now join the joyride! Due to surging demand from fans across the nation, legendary pop duo Roxette will now extend their Australian visit and play shows across Australia.
Roxette have topped the charts three times in Australia with singles It Must Have Been Love, Joyride and The Look. Look Sharp went to number two on the Australian album charts in 1988. Joyride followed in 1991 also reaching number two. Roxette's next albums, Tourism and Crash! Boom! Bang!, both reached number 3 on the Australian album charts while their first greatest hits album Don't Bore Us, Get To The Chorus landed in the Australian top ten in 1995.

Roxette are one of the most successful bands to come out of Sweden, have had more number ones and top 10 hits in America than ABBA and have even featured on their very own Swedish postage stamp!

Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle who make up Roxette, came out of Sweden in the late '80s. Their game was pop and their mission was to conquer the world. With 33 chart-busting singles and total record sales of 75 million, it seems safe to say, "mission accomplished". Except for one thing - it ain't over yet! Biding their time during Marie Fredriksson's recovery from her brain tumour in 2002, the band has gradually staged a comeback that has climaxed with the release of their new album Charm School and their current world tour.

After an extremely successful start in Russia, Roxette went on to sell out concerts throughout Europe, South America and South Africa over the last year with more than one million tickets sold at 70 concerts. After such an overwhelming response in the rest of the world, Roxette have decided to extend the tour to include some very special shows in Australia and New Zealand.

Joining Roxette for these special Australian shows are 1927. Their 1989 album ...Ish is one of the highest selling debut albums by an Australian band. 1927's hit singles If I Could, That's When I Think of You, You'll Never Know and Compulsory Hero still remain radio favourites more than 20 years after their release.

Big Day Out To Hit Adelaide and Perth; Follow's Sydney And Melbourne Concerts

Music and entertainment fans. No doubt you have been hearing and readying all sorts of news about Australia's Big Day Out festival.

It's a tough gig to put on a huge concert festival such as this, and in 2012 Australia's festival scene has endured lots of competition, and we all know about the global economic recession.

Do your best to support live music and be prepared for some pleasant surprises at the upcoming Big Day Out festivals in Adelaide and Perth. And, kudos to Motorola and other sponsors for getting behind the gigs, for without them, the shows of this magnitude wouldn't be possible.

Big Day Out Hits Adelaide, SA This Friday...

South Australia the 2012 Big Day Out is heading your way! They have managed to squeeze into their suitcases the finest acts from across the globe and local legends too, a non-stop list of the world’s top skaters, performers and artists are all along for the ride. BDO are excited and honoured to be bringing them to you this Friday, 3 February at the Adelaide Showground.

It’s been fifteen long years since SOUNDGARDEN last graced our shores and Chris Cornell, Kim Thayil, Matt Cameron and Ben Shepherd – the Seattle foursome – close the Big Day Out Stage with a vengeance. Rusty Cage, Outshined, Spoonman, Black Hole Sun – you’ll hear them all and you’ll love every minute of it!

Headlining the Boiler Room from North West London are NERO. Epic noise, thunderous dubstep bass, whirlwind drum ’n’ bass and hail of house rhythms, lightning flashes of rave synths, squall of orchestra, and occasional showers of guitar. “The bass-heavy, dubstep, anthemic trio blew the crowd away … they managed to get the whole crowd jumping.” (SydneyGigGuide). You’ll never forgive yourself if you miss it – the perfect way to end your epic Big Day Out adventure!

As the driving force behind Oasis, Noel Gallagher did everything you can do in music, but never before has he played BIG DAY OUT Adelaide! That all changes in a few days when NOEL GALLAGHER’S HIGH FLYING BIRDS make their Adelaide debut bringing a host of new songs to the stage, as well as classic Oasis tunes. There’s plenty of beautiful, loud and proud crowd sing-alongs here so grab you friends and get along to this one.

On the local front, Adelaide’s very own kings of hip-hop, HILLTOP HOODS, are celebrating their 5th Big Day Out this year so get your hands in the air and witness the guys performing their brand new single I Love It alongside Hard Road and all the songs you know and love.

The Sydney Morning Herald said “rockers KASABIAN offered rabble-raising proof of their place as one of the most exciting live acts” and we couldn’t agree more. And over on the Boiler Room stage are the must-see mash-up mixes of GIRL TALK and the unrestrained energy of OFWGKTA – both of whom have been massive crowd favourites.

THE VACCINES who, according to The Courier Mail “played a sizzling set on the Essential Stage and showed they are ready for bigger stages in days to come”, are a must add to your BDO schedule while over on the Green Stage, FOSTER THE PEOPLE are pulling massive crowds, bouncing and singing along to one of the biggest hits of the year, Pumped Up Kicks.

Returning after a 10 year hiatus is the BDO Skate Ramp featuring the unstoppable legend TONY HAWK’S VERT JAM, KINGS OF VERT and LEGENDS OF VERT. Be prepared to be amazed as the teams keep the crowd enthralled with some high flying and kick-arse skateboarding stunts right throughout the day.

Our 2012 BIG DAY OUT artists are also killing it on the ARIA Charts this week with four entries in the Top 30 of the Album chart (Foster the People at No. 2, Boy & Bear up 7 places to No. 9, Kimbra at No. 16 and Kasabian up 18 places to No. 27) and the No. 10 and 11 songs on the Singles Chart (Foster the People at No. 10 and Hilltop Hoods up 9 places to No 11).

There are a limited number of tickets still on sale – what are you waiting for? We look forward to seeing you Friday!

JOHN WILLIAMSON Releases 48th album ‘THE BIG RED’

JOHN WILLIAMSON will release The Big Red, a twelve track studio album nationally on Friday 27th January 2012.

The recording comprises material penned by the modern day poet over the past three years and contains quintessential ‘Willo’ sounds, with images that capture the country in song, inspirational songs of mateship and romantic ballads that touch the heart.

Released through his recent signing with Warner Music Australia, The Big Red is reflective of the multi-award winning artist’s passion for his craft. It reminds all as to why he has remained a success for more than forty years, with tracks on the album sure to become favourites for all Australians domestically or a treasured keepsake for those overseas.

The first single Hang My Hat In Queensland is pure poetry; an autobiographical account of Williamson’s life.
Inducted into the Aria Hall of Fame in 2010 and the recipient of more awards than he cares to mention, including a recent nomination for Oz Artist of the Year at the CMC 2012 Music Awards, there is no question that Williamson is the real deal. He stands by what he represents and is unashamedly proud of the country he loves. For this artist, whilst the awards are a nice recognition, there is no doubt it is the reaction from his audience that is most important.

‘At last ‘The Big Red’ is out of the box. I think those who know my music will think ‘Yes! This is what we’ve been waiting for from Willo.’ For those who don’t know; clear the mind of American influences. This is purely Australian. I hope it makes you as proud as I am of the place,’ said Williamson.

Williamson will embark on The Big Red National Tour from February 2012. For more information please visit http://www.johnwilliamson.com.au/

Hot off from being named ‘Band Of The Year’ in 2011 by Rock Sound, BLACK VEIL BRIDES are clearly setting the rock world alight so “wind down your car window, turn up the volume, sing along & flip the finger for good measure” – The Metal Forge
