THE BEASTS ARE COMING! AWARD WINNING DIRECTOR VENTURES DOWNUNDER TO WELCOME US TO THE BATHTUB

Acclaimed Director Benh Zeitlin is confirmed to attend this year’s Melbourne International Film Festival in August in support of his debut feature, the Cannes and Sundance award winning BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD. Zeitlin will also travel to Sydney to promote the film’s release in cinemas across Australia on September 13.

The critically acclaimed BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD has not only garnered top honours on the festival circuit this year, winning the Grand Jury Prize (US Dramatic) at Sundance and the Camera d’Or and FIPRESCI Prize at Cannes – but it has also enjoyed enormous success in the US, including an opening week screen average of $55,228.

Zeitlin’s credits on the film not only include Director, but also Co-Writer and Composer. Zeitlin has created a truly original story and wondrous world, one which Rolling Stone has called “A spellbinding movie not to be missed... BEASTS is some kind of miracle.”

BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD tells the story of Hushpuppy, a six-year-old girl living at the edge of the world, who faced with her father's fading health and environmental changes that signal the unravelling of the universe, goes in search of her lost mother, and is forced to comprehend her place in the mysterious world around her.

Featuring amazing performances from non-actors, Quvenzhan√© Wallis (as Hushpuppy) and Dwight Henry (as Wink), Icon Film Distribution will release BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD in cinemas nationally on September 13.

Lennard Promotions & CMC Present Emmylou Harris and her Red Dirt Boys Australian Tour November 2012

Already celebrated as a discoverer and interpreter of other artists’ songs, 12-time Grammy Award winner Emmylou Harris has, in the last decade, gained admiration as much for her eloquently straightforward songwriting as for her incomparably expressive singing. On Hard Bargain, her third Nonesuch disc, she offers 11 original songs—three of them co-written with Grammy– and Oscar–winning composer Will Jennings—that touch on the autobiographical while reaching for the universal.

Few in pop or country music have achieved such honesty or revealed such maturity in their writing. Forty years into her career, Harris shares the hard-earned wisdom that—hopefully if not inevitably—comes with getting older, though she’s never stopped looking ahead.

Harris called her album and tour Hard Bargain because it just seemed to tie everything together. “The people in your life, and the joy of life, will always bring you back no matter what, and I think that’s echoed in every song in a way. I may be stretching things a little bit but if you had to, ‘Hard Bargain’ would sum up this particular song cycle.”

The overarching message of Hard Bargain is that music, like life, will go on.

A 12-time Grammy winner and Billboard Century Award recipient, Emmylou Harris’ contribution as a singer and songwriter spans 40 years. She has recorded more than 25 albums and has lent her talents to countless fellow artists’ recordings. In recognition of her remarkable career, Harris was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2008.
